The harbour
Ensenada sits on the Bahía de Todos Santos on the Pacific coast of Baja California, about 100 kilometres south of the US border at Tijuana. It is a fishing and commercial port and one of Mexico's busiest cruise stops, regularly visited by ships sailing from Southern California.
The port handles containers, general cargo and fishing fleets, including tuna, and serves the farming valleys inland, among them the wine region of the Valle de Guadalupe. Sailors notice the cool Pacific water, the islands at the mouth of the bay and the dry hills around the town. Nearby, La Bufadora blowhole sends sea spray high into the air.
